The DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia
THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING ABLE TO SELECT GRAPES
In a property that stretches over 2,500 hectares, we have chosen to select and plant vineyards exclusively on the most suitable lands, covering just a small area of the total surface. An area that is unique in terms of soil type, microclimate, and exposure that deserves its own appellation: DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia.
_“We believe that Sassicaia is one of the greatest wine creations of the century. It also happens to be simply wonderful to drink. May it thrive through the new millennium”. _

Bolgheri Sassicaia
A wine form the rocks
Originally reserved for family and friends until 1967, Sassicaia was released on the market for the first time in 1971 with the 1968 vintage. To this day, the winemaking team remains committed to preserving the stylistic imprint that inspired the creation of this wine.
Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are cultivated in estate-owned plots located in Castiglioncello, Aia Nuova, Cerreta, Sassicaia di Sopra, and San Martino. These parcels feature diverse and complex morphological characteristics, including calcareous soils rich in marl, as well as stones and pebbles—from which the wine takes its name—and areas of partial clay. The vineyards lie at altitudes ranging from 100 to 360 metres above sea level.
